Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth & Rickie Fowler Could Be Golf’s New “Big 3”

James Dodson eloquently wrote about the confluence of Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead in his best-selling book “American Triumvirate.” All three men were born in 1913 and ascended to the top of golf’s hierarchy in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. They aggressively competed against each other and many times were at the top of the leaderboard in every major championship of their time. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player became golf’s “Big 3” when one of them […]

BRICKYARD CROSSING: THE CONFLUENCE OF GOLF & AUTO RACING

Written by:  Mike May Ladies and gentlemen, start your golf carts!  That is an appropriate message for any foursome that tees it up at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.  This 18-hole stretch of championship golf is named in honor of its more famous sporting neighbor, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (aka, the ‘ole Brickyard). Lindsey Vonn Splits and Tiger Woods Finished Near The Bottom at The Players Championship

Not that anyone noticed, but Tiger Woods was in the field last week at The Players Championship. He shot 73-71 on Thursday and Friday to make the cut on the number at Even Par. Rickie Fowler’s amazing win at the Players Championship may have just moved him into a new stratosphere in professional golf. Previously Fowler had only one tour win at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, where he outdueled Rory McIlroy over the final 18 holes. Fowler made four birdies and an eagle over the final six holes at the very difficult TPC Sawgrass to post 12-under-par and become the leader in the clubhouse with a host of players yet to finish. His […]

Justin Rose Channels Stephen Curry to Win Zurich Classic

Justin Rose posted 14-under-par for four rounds at the Masters Tournament. A score that normally would be sufficient to win, except for Jordan Spieth’s record-tying 18-under-par. Rose was forced to settle for runner-up. He knew, however, his game was in a good place and accepted his fate. After a week off, he headed to New Orleans to compete in the Zurich Classic. Every golfer understands the importance of a strong mental attitude. Eighteen holes in a round of golf can […]
